Note: With the introduction of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 3.0 and Bring Your Own Network (BYON), we no longer certify vSAN ReadyNodes and switch compatibility with VCF. As a result the VMware Compatibility Guide(VCG) will no longer display certified components for VCF 3.0. Please use VCF Planning Guide to select compatible vSAN ReadyNodes.

VMware Cloud Foundation - Hardware requirements

VMware Cloud Foundation has the following hardware requirements:

• Servers - Qualified vSAN ReadyNodes™ :
1. Supported categories are: HY-4, HY-6, HY-8 for hybrid and AF-4, AF-6 and AF-8 for all-flash.
2. CPU and Memory configurations are inherited from the vSAN Program.
3. All nodes will be 2 socket systems.

Selection Notes:

• Two ToRs per rack
• Two Inter-Racks switches for a total of up to eight racks. Inter-Rack switches are needed only when you have more than one rack
• ToR and Inter-Rack Switches must be from the same vendor. You need to choose all Cisco switches(ToRs and Inter-Racks) or all Arista switches(ToRs and Inter-Racks) - you cannot mix and match between the two vendors(e.g. Arista ToR switches with Cisco Inter-Rack switches is an invalid configuration).
• One management switch per rack. Either of the two management switch options can be chosen - this is independent of the choice of the ToR and Inter-Rack switches.
